Bill Steward serves as Chief Operating Officer of BridgeForth Finance, an affiliate of BridgeForth Capital. A finance and operations specialist, Mr. Steward has a proven track record of success in implementing process improvements, building new businesses, managing risk and controllership, and architecting technical infrastructures.
Prior to joining BridgeForth Finance, Mr. Steward was co-founder and CFO of Imperium Global Partners, Inc., a provider of lending and investment services to middle market businesses across the United States. Promoting sales outside the United States is a challenge for many Imperium Global Partners (IGP) clients; IGP bridges that gap by providing distribution networks in international markets. As a result, IGP has become a leading global marketer of security and healthcare products and systems, specializing in innovative solutions. As CFO, Mr. Steward drove compliance programs for the U.S. Department of State for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), the U.S. Department of Commerce for Export Administration Regulations (EARS), the U.S. Census Bureau for export controls and the U.S. Treasury for Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) activities. He was also responsible for the financial management of the company and managed underwriting and risk management operations.
Prior to Imperium Global Partners, Mr. Steward was with Imperium Partners Group where he served as CFO for the partnership, its management companies and hedge funds. The fund had over $80 million in assets and achieved positive earnings annually since inception. Mr. Steward also managed Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) compliance for the firms. In addition, Mr. Steward was a board member of a publicly-traded equity mutual fund invested in stocks of companies operating in the real estate sector.
Mr. Steward was also co-founder and COO of New Stream Commercial Finance, a highly collateralized, secured lender to small and mid-sized companies. Under his leadership, the company generated a portfolio of over $110 million in transactions and collected over $10 million in ancillary fee income in the first year and with an overall portfolio yield that exceeded 20%.
Mr. Steward’s background also includes extensive experience with leading Fortune 500 financial services institutions to include Citicorp, Chase Manhattan Bank and GE Corporate Financial Services (CFS). While serving at CFS he created their global IT compliance program for Sarbanes-Oxley. In addition to being awarded six U.S. Patents while at GE, he won their prestigious Willis R. Whitney Award from GE Corporate Research and Development for Design for Six Sigma in Portfolio Investment Due Diligences.
Mr. Steward received his B.A. from Kalamazoo College.
